MISSION

To help women and their families have healthy babies by offering health care coordination, education, and access to community services

MOMS has designed a low-cost, high impact alternative to traditional case management and health education using a community-based "Maternal-Child Health Care Coordination" model of care. Under nurse supervision, MOMS staff provide a consistent level of support to women and their babies through home visits, group classes, and other contacts that are efficient in these frugal health care times. These efforts have resulted in improved birth outcomes, improved infant and maternal health, and improved infant development.

Two platforms of service - Maternal-Child Health Care Coordination, and Health Education & Outreach - help to fulfill MOMS mission. The emphasis of MOMS programs is to increase the woman's knowledge regarding prenatal and postpartum care, well woman care, parenting skills, nutrition, childbirth preparation, breastfeeding, infant care and safety, infant development, and teen pregnancy prevention.

The goal of MOMS is to provide programs and services that result in Healthy Pregnancies, Healthy Babies & Healthy Families. MOMS has been recognized by officials from the Health Care Agency of Orange County, the Children & Families Commission of Orange County, California Department of Health Services, and the United States Congress for its innovative work in the community and its impact on the health of women and babies in Orange County.
